Pastor R. A. Vernon is God's "threshing instrument" raised up in the Greater Cleveland area, for "such a time as this." Running with God's vision, he is seizing the kingdom of God by force. Blessed with a fierce, bold and uncompromising delivery, Pastor Vernon fervently elucidates "THE WORD" of God by his utter dependence on the Lord, a passion for souls, and his determination to hold fast to integrity. The radical, unpretentious preaching and teaching style of Pastor Vernon has transformed the lives of thousands of men, women, boys and girls. He became the youngest pastor in the city of Cleveland when he took on his first pastorate at the age of 28 at a traditional Baptist church. God used Pastor Vernon's confrontational style of preaching to grow the membership to over 500 in the span of one year.
It was during this time that God used a church rooted in spiritual traditionalism to bring forth the anointing that would draw thousands. It happened one Sunday morning when Pastor Vernon arrived at the church, prepared to preach to God's people, and discovered that there would be no Word from the Lord that day. The leaders of the church had changed the locks on the door, preventing the entire congregation from worshipping that morning.
God was ushering in a new thing; He directed Pastor Vernon to build a church that operated under Kingdom Authority, rather than man-made traditions. Out of those divine orders, "THE WORD" Church was born in October of 2000.
He has committed himself and the church to the economic empowerment of people in the community he serves. He formed the Word In Action, LLC, which operates a sporting and special events facility, the Kingdom Café, a restaurant located inside of the church, and a Christian bookstore. "THE WORD" Child Care Center, a sister agency, was also opened under his vision and direction, as well as R. A. Vernon Ministries, a global outreach broadcast ministry, dedicated to promoting God's Kingdom Agenda and saving souls. |
